Test post! I had a few things other entries written down that I'd planned to upload here, but after re-reading them, they weren't as good as I remembered - and the subject matter was pretty boring too. Anyway, I just need to get this post to be over 200 characters to test if the truncation in working properly.
This entire website is wrapped in the Ruby on Rails framework, and other than goofing around with tutorials and online courses, this site is my first real Rails App. I decided that I wanted to learn a new framework while I built this website, and ended up choosing Rails before really understanding its strengths or limitations. It's honestly a questionable choice for a one-page scrolling site with mostly static content. Seeded by the compunction of blindly starting, sprouted the idea start a blog, further muddling, yet simultaneously rectifying, the over-complicated choice.
Anyway, it was a fun exercise - and now I can say that I've built something with Ruby on Rails!
"I really regret learning that new skill." - No one
For now, I plan on posting something every week or so, and I really hope I am able to focus my discipline into this. I keep myself busy with a multitude of different activities and projects all the time - so in the past, I've found myself unwittingly drifting in and out of interests. I don't want that to happen with writing. I endeavor to be intentional with all of my actions, and that ideally includes being intentional with my inaction. Blocking off time to do nothing but sit and write, forces me to slow down and take inventory of my recent decisions.
Introspection and I have been great friends for a long time, but only spending time with one person can be boring and stagnating. Let's share some cool thoughts with one another!
Thanks for tuning in!
P.S. Shout out to Ryan, Chris, Kevin and Annie for their helpful suggestions and encouragement.
